So far, the ONLY evidence for the possibility of extraterrestrial life comes from a rock from Mars that landed on Earth long ago as a meteorite. (..see this website http://www.lpi.usra.edu/lpi/meteorites/life.html)

Science is making a concerted effort to find "reasonable" evidence of life elsewhere, mainly by radio-telescopic searches, and there are all kinds of other speculations, like we ourselves were spawned here on Earth by extraterrestrial materials from comets, meteors, etc., but up to this point there has been absolutely no hard, irrefutable evidence.

The best theory I've heard. Is the one that we are the extraterrestials. if you consider the diference between modern man and the fossil remains of neanderthal man.

the bone structure is so very different but they find certain caracteristics to be a combination of both neanderthal and sapiens. as good evidence that we are the offspring of traveling extraterrestials introducing a new gene that cased such a radical change in one step.

There have been conflicting reports but so far there is no concrete evidence to prove presence of ETs. If you are really interested in subject, please follow SETI Institute web site at http://www.seti.org/.
