I'm only a junior in high school right now. However, I'm interested in Astrobiology (as well as biology in general), Astronomy, and basically any field of science; I have no clue yet what I'm going to major in.

My question is, is getting a job at NASA an unrealistic goal to set for myself? I'm not a genius by any means, I just love science and would love to work for them in any way.

There are jobs at NASA for high school students, college students, graduate students, postdocs, contractors, engineers, and scientists. If you apply for everything and you're any good at what you're doing, you can get something there at some point. They've got hundreds of high school students interning at their centers over the summer. Just don't expect to get a permanent job there - there are very few of those, and even then you have to raise all your own funding through grants.

NO!!!! It is NOT an unrealistic goal at all. Not in the least.

NASA needs scientists. They need engineers, They need rocket jockeys and machinists and electricians and they even need janitors.

Stay curious. For now, that's all you have to do. You like astronomy? The price for entry in that field is zero dollars. You want to do biochem? DO IT while you are in school. Take the bio classes take the science classes, focus on what actually interests you and suck it in while the government is footing the bill.

We don't even have names for all the stuff that will be available to for you to major in by the time you have to actually decide. That decision is six years out at least, maybe more.

If your a junior right now, and you keep your mind on getting a job at NASA, and you find as many connections as you can from now until you graduate from college, it is definitely possible, and if you do it, you will probably find yourself working for NASA.

It's very difficult. Have you taken a Physics course yet? If not, then take it next year and you'll see what I'm talking about.

At the moment, very difficult. There's hardly anything left of it.
