I think we will.

After all, Bush is trying hard to get to Mars, and to do this the moon is a good stepping stone. NASA of course woundnt object to going back either.

China has set a goal for themselves to not only go, but set up a moon base aswell by 2020 (or maybe it was 2015?). I have my doubts about China doing it, but the US has a good shot.

Then when you take into account the private companies that are starting to get into space travel (with the success of SpaceShip One), there will be an even greater ability to go into space. If the government doesnt do it, private industry will, there is definatly a market for people wanting to go into space and the moon. How long it will take to get the price down enough for the average person to be able to afford it is a different story.

It will be sad if by 2069 (100 years after the first moon landing) that we still have only went there 6 times.

Yes. It is inevitable. First of all not only the US is planning more missions to the moon. Both China and India have ambitious plans for the moon. It seems a new spacerace is in the cards.

Also by setting up a station on the moon it would be of great economic value for space exploration. The moon has only 16.5 % of earths gravitational pull and no atmosphere. That means a spacecraft taking off from the surface of the moon could have virtually any shape or size. An ideal place to build spacecraft destined for Mars and beyond in other words.

Supplying the spacestation with food, water and air would be alot cheaper from the moon than from earth.

So the moon is a natural stepping stone on our way into deep space.

As soon as we can find a way to make billions of dollars stripping it of something, even Walmarts will be there. Thank God theres no water up there. Imagine the race to pollute it. If there was oil on the moon, "BUSH" would have already claimed it for "CHENEY" They would claim that there are weapons of mass destruction and bomb it.
