I'm a sky watcher from way back. I saw a meteor shower once that would take your breath away. It looked like someone was slinging handfuls of stars across the sky. Awesome!

The Eagle nebula is absolutely fantastic...there was a similar question earlier and the Eagle nebula got my vote. You know, you can do both (get married and be an astronomer).

My favorites are:

1. The Andromeda galaxy (M31), for its beauty and because I think our galaxy could be like this seen from a distance.

2. The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51), this beautiful pair of galaxies linked physically one to each other through a bridge of stars.

3. The Sombrero Galaxy (M104), so far far away that is incredible that we can see it.

4. Albireo, the double star, in Cygnus.

5. and of course, the Orion Nebula.

I am endlessly enchanted by the beauty of the night sky.

I solved a dilemma like yours, I ended up marrying an astronomer. So I got a spouse AND the opportunity to view objects through a 14-inch telescope regularly. LOL

My favorite celestial objects are the Pleiades and Sirius, my friend star (or the Dog Star, to most people).
