Here is a discription of the makeup of the Moon.

The lunar crust is made up of calcium-rich, granite- like rock. It is about 30 miles think on the near side and about 46 miles think on the far side. The upper mantle is solid, rigid, an stable. The lower mantle lies 600 miles below the crust. The Moon possibly has a small iron core at it's center.
