There is life on Mars but there are only algae that live under the permafrost and no monstrous aliens that Hollywood wants us to believe.

Yes, the Mars rovers have found solid evidence of water on Mars, which is a prerequisite for life (at least as we know it), but they haven't yet found positive evidence of life.

There's a lot of good easily understandable stuff about Mars and the rovers on NASA's web site. Also a couple of excellent books: Roving Mars by Steve Squyres and Postcards from Mars by Jim Bell.

We have not found any living things on Mars. That does not mean we are not still looking for evidence that there once was life on the planet. That is a big part of Curiosity's mission, looking for types of geology that here on Earth, have originated from life forms (like limestone and fossils).

The "robots" are called rovers.

There are 2 currently working on Mars. And yes, they found water ice under the surface.

There is no evidence of life.

The rovers are designed to look for geologic evidence of a habitable past, not to specifically find life so they may have come across microbial life without realizing it. The Viking missions of 1976 were designed to find microbial life but the results were inconclusive, three of the four tests said no, one said yes hence it was announced that no life was found however a recent review of the procedures determined that the procedures chosen may have destroyed martian life before testing for it. It looks like we found martian life in 1976 but were just too stupid to realize it.

There is no life on mars.

There is far, far more to life than "water". Just ask the biologists. After all, they are the ones to know, not astronomers.

It's about time we moved on from dustbowl Mars, and found some more interesting places to explore.

Cheers!

No life but the water means it can support life
