Should we be more worried about the sun expanding or global warming?

I don't believe in Global Warming yeah sue me if you have an issue with it. Is anyone here more worried about the sun exploding than global warming? Is it possible the sun can expand to its climax early? Shouldn't we be studying how to prevent this?

My first response to this was what do you mean you don't believe in Global Warming it's a natural disaster that occurs on Earth. That's like saying you don't believe in tornadoes. However, after doing some more research into the concept I realized some people just don't believe in Climate Change. Which I guess I can't blame them for considering the fact that the winters in the Northern states just seem to be getting colder and colder. I just thought that everybody knew Global Warming was a thing. Living in the Southern states I felt how hot it was getting every summer. To answer your question I'd worry more about Global Warming. The Sun's expansion isn't going to happen for billions of years. Both these topics relate in how people keep putting it off by how long these problems take but Global Warming is the only one of those problems that is affecting us today.

Okay, you should be FAR more worried about global warming. Even if you don't believe in it. Whatever you believe about the likelihood of global warming, there's no way you can sit there an tell me it's more scientifically plausible than the sun expanding to a red giant within a matter of years. Ridiculous.
I don't think there's going to be another glacial period soon, but I'm more worried about that than the sun expanding. In fact, I'm not worried about it to such extent that I, as an atheist, am more concerned about Jesus returning than the sun expanding. I mean, if the sun is exploding soon that's science out the window anyway.

Global Warming, or anything else, for that matter, because the sun will begin giving off warning signs of expanding for several 100 thousand years before it happens. So much so, that as the Earth becomes too hot, humans could move to Mars, and have a nice long civilization there (longer than we've had here so far) before the sun finally engulfs the inner solar system.

I believe we should worry more about global warming for now. The earth still has approximately 7 billion years more before the sun turns into a red giant and expands. Global warming is caused by greenhouse gases like CO2 ( carbon dioxide), CH4 (methane) and even H2O gas (water vapour) which absorb infrared radiation from the sun, reflected off the surface of the earth. The continual absorption causes temperatures to rise and results in natural disasters like flooding due to the rise in sea level, which is due to the melting of glaciers, which is due to global warming. It's a whole process, caused by these greenhouse gases that us humans produce. Efforts have been made, such as the kyoto protocol which has for goal to monitor climate change by reducing the emission of greenhouse gases. Yet, if we don't do anything about it, temperatures will keep on rising and life will become instinct on earth, way before the sun turning into a red giant.

Dear Ghost....I would worry about many other phenomena before even starting to worry about global warming or the sun starting to become a Red Giant. If you are aware of what you have asked, this means you have read a lot or heard much on TV to include other issues that threaten our existence just the same. Then why haven't you included the following that may occur any time? > Comets or asteroids of a certain mass hitting Earth (remember the extinction of the dinosaurs?) > The moon (our beautiful but too big satellite) that might also be collided with a massive body to such an extent it would change its course and aim directly towards Earth. > Not to talk about us earthlings destroying ourselves with our own hands. The Cold War (just years ago) was the most threatening era in our history where Nuclear Bombs were about to be employed. Sadly, they still are present but in a decreased number yet ready to make our planet become a wilderness roaming around the sun that is still shining...and for other hundreds of million years before starting to "think" to become a RED GIANT. Ponder over this; Ghost.

That's an idiotic statement. There is absolutely no doubt that climate change happens, the only debate is in whether the activities of humankind contribute to it--sorry if you can't understand the difference, I guess public schools just aren't getting the job done. If you want to interpret that as me calling you an idiot, well, sue me if you have an issue with it, but it's an idiotic statement nonetheless.
.
There probably are, but since it's impossible for the Sun to explode, that's another idiotic statement. There are idiots who were convinced the Mayan calendar was going to kill us, and that the September asteroid will be the end of humankind.
.
There's no evidence to suggest that's the case.
.
And there's idiotic statement number three. The Sun is a massive thermonuclear reaction. It contains over 99.9% of all the matter in the Solar System. Jupiter has 95% of what's left. Humans control a vanishingly small percentage of the remaining subfraction. There is utterly nothing we could ever do to affect the course of the Sun's stellar evolution in the slightest way. We could hurl the entire planet into the Sun and it wouldn't even notice--but of course, we can't do that. Reality isn't a Star Trek movie, where you can shoot a missile into a star (in twenty seconds, yet) and expect to see an effect.
.
For someone who thinks he knows enough to say global warming can't be real, you seem to have very little understanding of science.

Can't sue you for not believing in global warming, it's your right to be as idiotic as you want.
There is very little chance that the Sun will swell up into a red giant in the immediate future and absolutely no chance of it exploding. Global climate change however is a problem we can do something about.
Even if you don't believe in global warming, reducing waste is good for your wallet. You care about your wallet right?

The sun still has approx. 70-75% hydrogen left in its core. So it has a long way to go before the hydrogen runs out and the sun expands to a red giant. By the time the sun becomes a red giant all life on Planet Earth will have been long extinct. In addition the sun burns through its hydrogen at a steady rate of a few trillion tons per second.

Since you don't believe in global warming ...
then the sun expanding is the only choice left.
So we should worry about that.
But reality strikes -- global warming is real.
I'm planning on selling all my real estate that is located less than 60 meters above present sea level. And relocate to higher ground. That way I won't be affected when low-lying areas are flooded.
As scientists are now saying - there is no more debate on global warming. The problem now is in deciding what to do about it.

Humans will not be around long enough to worry about the Sun expanding, due most to global climate change. Reality does not require you to believe in it.

The sun is not going to expand (Red Giant) for 4.5 Billion more years.
Global Warming we should be concerned about. Stop cutting down trees.

Rational people worry about cardiovascular disease, cancer, urban crime, road trauma, and financial ruin. All these things are real and almost certainly you, like all of us, will be subject to them at some stage in your life.
Only fruitcakes and dorks worry about shitt that's not going to happen for a billion years. As for global warming, sorry but it's too late to worry about that now.
Cheers!

Your opening statement tells me that you are an idiot. It is a well-established fact that climate change is happening. If you are worried about the Sun expanding then you should be trying to work out how to survive 900 million years.

If you are saying you don't believe Climate change is caused by man then you are not alone my friend. There is plenty of evidence that the climate has changed when humans were not even around. I for one am not blaming my ancestors for the ice ages.

We should be MOST worried about the poor and homeless, stopping abortion, and getting BOTH Obamab and the CLintons out of office.
