What do you guys expect in the year 2018? Do you think there will be flying space cars and updated technology? You think Hilary Clinton will be our country's first female president?

No flying cars (alas). Updated technology, always. I'd love a holodeck. I don't know that Hilary will want to run by then.

Frankly, I'm waiting to see when the next "end of the world" scenario begins. I don't really know what the next major technological innovation will be. I saw the dawn of colored television and FM stereo radio stations, a brief craze with 8 track tape players (the tape cassettes were the size of McDonald's hamburgers) and VCR video recording tape (nearly the same size). Totally digital adding machines replaced the mechanical types and then personal computers appeared. The first removable storage devices were 5.5 inch floppy disks and then the disks got smaller for about 10 years. Now all recording is done on CD's or DVD's and now there is blu ray. CD's also replaced vinyl records and the analogue technology which supported them. I think the thing which will change the world most in the future is genetic engineering. At present, scientists can only recite the letters in the genetic code like young children reciting the alphabet. When people actually learn to read the code the world will be unrecognizable to people living today. Should we then apply this technology to ourselves it may be the end of humanity. We will all end up as various combinations of animal, vegetable and mineral. Each individual will be a separate species designed for a particular job in a particular environment. "Real" humans will probably exist as animals in some future zoo.
hi0 loves you.

Eh, 2010 isn't all that much different from 2000, aside from smaller cars and better phones. So, probably about the same in that line.
