1)objects in space experience extreme temperatures because
A.space is full of matter B. Microgravity affects temperatures
C.Space is a vacume D.THere are no shadows in space

2)The solar wind is a stream of electrically charged particles that extend outward from the suns A.Chromoshpere B.Photoshpere C. Corona D. Core

3)The fact that each planet's orbit is an ellipse was discovered by A.Copernicus B. Galileo C. Kepler D. Brahe

1; C Yes space is full of matter, but if it had enough matter you would not get a temp differential as conduction would take place. It is a vacume. Heat needs a material to move through. Heat moving through a material is conduction. Heat moving through gas currents (air) is convection. The only way heat cn move through a vacume is radiation. This means the side of an object facing towards a radiation sorce (sun) will get very hot, while the side in the shade will get NO heat. Thus extreme temp differences.

2; It is usually pictured and calculated from the sun's (or star's) center as a ray coming from that point. However we know that there are increase in solar wind when the Corona has flares. The sciencetists are still debating exactly how the solar winds work. Solar research in space has only just restarted since Sky Lab. What ever the answer today may be, it will be different in a few years. (remeber when Pluto was a planet?) I believe your teacher is looking for C corona.

3; A Galieo was the first to turn a telescope towards the sky and observe the planets and the stars. He discovered sunspots, and went blind observing them. Kepler discovered the "Kepler Belts" around Earth and it is accepted as fact today. Brahe dosen't ring a bell. Copericus was a Mathmatition and astronomer. Astronomy is a science very dependant on math and physics.

4; Old books would say Mercury, BUT we now have had 2 flybys with plenty of pictures to show that Mercury has been very volcanic in the past. Most of it's surface is old lava flows. We took pictures of Venus with a camera that used radar immaging to get pictures through it's thick atmosphere and it has very large volcanos and lava flow. Mars has the same, and of corse Earth has volcanos too. So D.

5.) Science wouldn't be quite as hard if you

A. cracked your book at home and not just in class B. if you couldn't find what you're looking for in your book, use a library or search engine since you have internet access C. get off your butt and put forth a little bit of effort D. all of the above, since I'm not the one getting the grade

I'd say D.
