There's absolutely no evidence. No e-v-i-d-e-n-c-e. Aliens don't exist, are these people mad?

You're right, there's not enough evidence. I think what ioerr is saying is that something looks like a sophisticated structure, but who knows. We've seen these kind of incidents before like the face on mars which turned out to be just light and shadows. Also, I disagree with ioerr though, I don't think there is enough to go by to say it might be alien architecture. I can't even fathom that it would be, there's no way you can tell, it's too far away.

Curious ...
I put it down to overdosed on Star Trek. People honestly believe that life exists in every star system. (And on Europa, Mars, Pluto etc),
And we now have the Kepler (and other) data telling us there is no earth-like planet among the first 4000 exoplanets found.
The current "excitement" revolves around our inability to fully account for some data. ... (pun intended)
and before rushing around exclaiming "aliens" we should re-examine the data. And look at the star with other telescopes etc etc. We do have better telescopes than Kepler.

1: We don't know if aliens don't exist. If they don't, we'll probably never find out.
2: Foxnews is, as usually, blowing things out of proportions. A megastructure is one of the possible explanations for the described phenomenon. This does not mean it is true, nor false.
I don't think it is alien life. I believe the other possible explanations hold more merit. But this is science. We do not exclude explanations just because we don't like them. And hopefully more research will tell us what the actual cause is.

It's a sad documentary about the dumbing down of western civilisation, and the inexorable degradation of science at all levels. Remember in the olden days when science involved experimental evidence. Not any more. Now we are supposed to believe in aliens "because they must exist". (puke!)
Apparently, some supposed "scientists" believe the nonsense in the media. I am becoming a doomsdayer: The end is near, for science. Religion and superstition couched as aliens wins. Welcome to the new dark ages
Cheers!

There's some unexplained non-periodic changes in brightness, that don't look like planets would make. The research paper suggests a cluster of extra-systemic comets caused by the near passage of another star.
Or it could be interstellar warfare with big lightsails tacking around the system ...

And coming in ninth, another anonymous rant about KIC 8462852, the ninth question asked about it since yesterday. I'm not sure if this one should count, though, since your question looks like a sock puppet copy of this also anonymous rant from a couple of hours ago: https://answersrip.com/question/index?qid=20151015180418AASL0jx You're right, though, there is utterly no evidence of extraterrestrial cause other than the irregularity of the stellar signature itself which, as the source article shows http://arxiv.org/pdf/1509.03622v1.pdf, is far more plausibly explained by a cometary cascade triggered by another star passing through the Oort cloud than it is aliens building a ring world or whatever the bonehead at SETI who set this bit of nonsense off imagines it might be. Not a word about aliens in the arXiv prepublication paper, but the press loves a sensationalistic story, don't they, regardless of how flimsy the evidence may be.

Anything a bit unusual about some exoplanet the media goes doolally, specially the cheap and nasty end of the media like Fox. Sells the channel which sells advertising. The people that are attracted by stories like that will believe almost anything, which is why advertisers love them.

The flickering looks different so they have to check it out with radio telescopes. No big deal. That's how science is done. Hoping it is ET is not claiming it is.

Why do some idiots think the Kepler telescope found intelligent life? Earth is flat; stands on 3 pillars (the Most Holy Trinity); pillars stand on water at zero Kelvin. Zodiac is planetary prison of demons; don't believe in horoscopes or you'll exhibit the traits of the trapped demons. Most thoughts and dreams are from demons; demons never do good. Sleep fully clothed; pray the Jesus prayer. Pray to your guardian angel to have normal sleep. Vyacheslav Krasheninnikov was the last prophet before Enoch and Elijah return to preach against the antichrist. According to Ruski Orthodox Christian Vyacheslav Krasheninnikov: Humans were created about 7525 years ago.
Birds participate in time creation. It's a sin to kill birds. Dinosaurs live under our level. They will get out through sinkholes and lakes. To kill them, go for their nerves. Save the birds; but kill the dinosaurs. First dinosaur will come out of Volga River in Russia. Demons grow human skin (from a sample taken during abduction) and put it on so as to look like us. Demons will invite people to be healed inside their UFOs; those who go will be like zombies after. Gov't provides demons with diamonds and allows demons to abduct people. If you're being abducted, slowly pray the Jesus prayer.
Don't panic. Demons use diamonds and souls to power their UFO craft. The bigger the diamond, the more it lasts. Demons have 4 UFO bases: 1)Moon 2)Inside fake mountain Kailash in Tibet 3)In lake Baikal in Russia 4)In Atlantis which is underneath the Mariana Trench in Pacific Ocean. There are no aliens. Nobody lives on other planets. Airplanes that go down are hit by demons because they need the airspace to fight Jesus. Antichrist is pale with red eyes. He's possessed by Satan since he's 12 years old. He flies. He wears gloves to hide long nails. He's surrounded by demons who appear as angels of light.
Don't go into a UFO to be healed by demons. 666 is given by isotope rays on wrist or forehead when people stretch hands to receive small plastic grey card with no name on it (World Passport). Police will microchip and isotope ray people on highways. Food stores will isotope ray people too. Antichrist will also release prisoners to mark people. Reject 666 at all cost. If you're about to be marked, pray the Jesus prayer. Hide with Orthodox Christians to escape 666; leave all electronics behind so that antichrist's minions can't track you. Give to charity in the name of Archangel Michael; he rescues people from hell twice a year (or brings them up a level, that is, to a level with less punishment; eventually, people are freed). Feed the pigeons; when pigeons bow down, people are saved from hell. Forgive me.

because the data from that particular star hasn't been explained any other way yet and alien architecture is at least one possible explanation
it's far from being considered the most likely explanation, but it's obviously the one that all the news venues are going to put in their headlines
I'm sorry you're having fits over popular news material. perhaps you should seek some kind of treatment
well I am a little angry but I think I'll be ok

It is a RingWorld just like Larry Niven wrote about. It might have a surface area 3 million times that of Earth's. To build that those Aliens must have technology that is a million years more technologically advanced than ours. And they probably have us out numbered at least 3,000,000 to 1. If they notice Earth and can get here we are all dead. God help us all!
Apparently there are a lot of people who get paid to write "stories" for internet sites, and they love making up fantastic, sensational headlines to sucker people into clicking on their website, which gets them money from their advertising sponsors.

It's reasonable to think there are aliens
