What is your favourite nebula?

My favourite is difficult to decide because there are so many of them so my favourite of each type is:

Emission: Orion Nebula
I love all the arcs and loops of gas and the Trapezium starcluster. Also the surrounding area is beautiful with the Running Man Nebula above it and the reflection nebula NGC 1999 below it.

Reflection: Rho Ophiuchi region
Currently there are no words to describe the awesome range of colours. Yellow, blue, pink, purple, orange, red. I also love the globular clusters in the region M4 and NGC 6144.

Dark: Horsehead Nebula
This is undoubtedly an icon of astronomy and it looks amazing sihouetted against the emission nebula IC 434. The surrounding area is awash with bright blue and purple reflection nebulae that are simply incredible.

Planetary: Helix Nebula
The simple blue and pink colour scheme matches the shape so nicely and the knots and jets are cool.

Many (edit... :-) of my faves are emission nebulae:

Orion Nebula

Dumbell Nebula

Lagoon Nebula

Have to travel for these ones:

Eta Carinae Nebula

Tarantula Nebula

This is all based on telescope observation. Yes, the Hubble pictures are pretty, but I'd really rather observe (and photograph) stuff myself.

I like the eagle nebula, a.k.a. Messier object 16

I love the outline of an eagle in the nebular cloud.

I like the Crab Nebula.

I like it because it's young.

We've seen only 900 years of it's explosion. The chinese actually witnessed and documented the supernova in 1054;

Imagine how incredible this must of been.

How lucky are they, right?
